This year’s 4th edition of Laikipia University Marathon will held on 5^th October 2014 at Laikipia University Main Campus-Nyahururu circuit.

  The event which is now recognized by Athletics Kenya (AK) calendar is expected to get bigger and better as celebrated national Marathon athletes from across the country are already eyeing the event. 

   Laikipia University Vice chancellor Prof Francis Lelo says the recognition by Athletics Kenya board will boost lives in the arid region. The Marathon is mainly aimed at promoting lives in the arid regions of Laikipia County as well as conserving the environment.

“The event makes Laikipia a home of sports which identifies and nurtures talent among sports men and women from all corners”, said the Vice chancellor during the 3^rd Laikipia University Marathon ceremony.

 Apart from being the centre of academic excellence Laikipia University is also the centre of sports excellence through the annual marathon. The high altitude region of Laikipia is favourable for athletics thus attracting international athletes.

The registration for the marathon will open soon. ‘The Laikipia University Marathon will be too big to miss out’.

1. 10KM road race: Corporate, University students, staff and school teams
2. 10KM road race: Men and women
3. 21KM half Marathon: Men and women
